Intro to Fab - Repetitions

I started out by thinking how I can make 5 individual objects that somehow go together. I ended up with designing stackable cubes that have a dowel pin on one side and a hole on the other so that each cube can stack on top of the other.

I started with an 18’ by 13’ spare panel of wood that was 1/2 inch thick. To create a small cube, I needed to make 2-inch wide boards and stack four on top of each other to create a 2-inch cube. I initially tried to use the band saw to cut my strips of wood. However, the board was not a perpendicular rectangle and therefore the fence on the band saw would have produced a crooked plank of wood. Therefore, I opted for the miter saw. I then used wood glue and clamps to put the pieces together.

After a day had passed, my 2-inch plank of wood was complete. I needed to use the miter saw to cut my cubes. I originally planned to create 6 (one as my first pancake) however, due to the miter saw eating too much material, I barely made 5 somewhat elongated cubes. I then used the sanding machine to smooth the sides of the cube as the glued wood did not align perfectly. I then continued with sandpaper. Lastly, I marked the center of the cubes and used the drill press to create a 3/8 inch hole. However, I think the drill bit bent causing a non-perpendicular hole. Using wood glue, I glued half of the dowel into the newly formed hole.
